Authorities have lifted the tsunami alert for Indonesia following yesterday’s 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the island of Sumatra.
The Indonesia Meteorology and Geophysics Agency says at least five strong aftershocks with a magnitude of 5.2 were recorded.
It also says tsunamis measuring just under a foot, impacted both coastal areas but they posed no danger.
There’re still no reports of deaths or injuries.
Officials say the shaking, which lasted for more than a minute, caused frightened citizens to run out of their homes and into the streets.
Several communities also lost electricity and roads were blocked by debris.
