Jamaica beat Ireland by six wickets

Danza Hyatt scored a century and David Bernard Junior an undefeated half-century to guide Jamaica to an easy six-wicket victory over Ireland in the Supreme Ventures Sports Betting Jamaica Cricket Festival at Port Rhodes Sports Club in St Ann yesterday.



Hyatt hit 102, and Bernard Junior 52 not out as Jamaica set 228 to win reached the victory target with 16 balls to spare. They ended on 230 for four four.



Carlton Baugh Junior was 24 not out.



Earlier, all-rounder Andre Russell bagged five for 40 as Ireland sent in to bat were dismissed for 227 with three deliveries remaining.



Devon Brown and Lambert supported with two wickets each.



Gary Wilson topscored for Ireland with 56, while William Porterfield chipped in with 43 and Nigel Jones scored 30.



The third match in the festival takes place today at the same venue with Jamaica facing Canada in another 50-over game.



The festival, which began on April 3 and ends April 17, also involves the West Indies team, which is scheduled to arrive in the country today.



The West Indies will bow into action at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium on the weekend with 20/20 games against Canada on Saturday and Ireland on Sunday.
