Trelawny Parish Council gives JCA the green light

The Trelawny Parish Council has now given the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) the green light to stage the Supreme Ventures Sports Betting Cricket Festival at the Trelawny Multi Purpose Stadium this weekend.

Permission was granted this morning, just 24 hours after the Trelawny Parish Council had threatened to cancel the staging of the event citing that the JCA did not follow the guidelines in terms of securing the venue.

Mayor of Falmouth and Chairman of the Trelawny Parish Council, Colin Gager says the JCA was trying to use the venue without applying for an event license and failing to notify the Department of Health.

However, the Mayor says the process of securing the venue for the weekend is now at an advanced stage.

Jamaica are hosting the West Indies, Canada and Ireland in the cricket festival which ends on April 17.

The West Indies and Ireland are using the festival as preparation for the 20/Twenty World Cup in the Caribbean from April 30 to May 16.

West Indies play their first match in the festival tomorrow when they clash with Canada at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium in a 20/Twenty game.
