Antiguan electoral head hits back

The Chairman of the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission has defended the organisation against criticisms of major foul-ups on election day last year.
The commission was censured by a judge who last month invalidated the election of three ruling party MPs, partly because of the late opening of some polling stations.
Sir Gerry Watt, a Queen’s Counsel, said the judge’s criticism was harsh, given that electoral workers had just over two weeks to complete the voters’ register.
The government has appealed the judge’s decision.
