West Indies thrashed Canada

Top batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul smashed his 11th One Day International century to lead West Indies to a massive 208-run victory over Canada in their Jamaica Cricket Association Festival match at Sabina Park today.



Chanderpaul, who opened the batting, scored 101 off 120 balls as West Indies batting first piled up 316 for four off their allotted 50 overs.



Darren Bravo gave good support with his first One Day International half-century. He scored 74 off 75 deliveries, while opener Andre Fletcher 48, Ramnaresh Sarwan 47 not out off 26 balls and Narsingh Deonarine 31 off 24 balls also got useful runs.



The Canadians, needing 317 runs for victory, were blown away for 108 off 39.2 overs.



Nikita Miller was the most successful West Indies bowler with figures of three for 15 off 9.2 overs.



Captain Darren Sammy and Sulieman Benn picked up two wickets apiece, while there was a wicket each for Dave Bernard Junior and Ravi Rampaul.



It was West Indies third victory in the series following two 20/20 wins over Ireland and Canada at the weekend.



West Indies will next face Ireland on Thursday in another One Day International.



West Indies and Ireland are using cricket festival to prepare for the April 30 to May 16 20/20 World Cup in the Caribbean.
