The main opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) says it will boycott today’s sitting of Parliament over the handling of an incident outside the parliament building last month.

There were reports recently of an altercation between Economic Affairs Minister David Estwick and opposition parliamentarian Dale Marshall during debate on the 2010-1011 Estimates in the House.

Opposition Leader Mia Mottley says while her party awaits the outcome of an investigation by the Committee of Privileges, Prime Minister David Thompson has a responsibility to ensure the safety of members and workers of Parliament.

She says the opposition’s is to uphold the democracy of the country and by extension the Parliament.
