The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court has set June 29 to hear an appeal brought by lawyers representing Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister, Baldwin Spencer and two of his Cabinet ministers.

The election of the three has been ruled null and void.

Yesterday the Registrar of the High Court, Charlesworth Tabor said the Appeal Court will meet in Antigua for the hearing and is expected to deliver its ruling on that same day.

On March 31, High Court judge Louise Blenman ruled that the election of Spencer, Tourism Minister John Maginley and Education Minister Jacqui Quinn-Leandro was invalid, throwing the United Progressive Party (UPP) administration into a tailspin.

However, the judge confirmed that Trevor Walker of the government-aligned Barbuda People Movement was duly elected to the lone seat on the sister island in the general election.

As a result, the ruling UPP has six of the 17 seats in Parliament, while the opposition Antigua Labour Party commands seven.
