West Indies ‘A’ beat Zimbabwe
West Indies ‘A’ defeated Zimbabwe by five wickets in a day/night 20/20 match at the Queen’s Park Stadium in Grenada today.
Batting, first after winning the toss, Zimbabwe were restricted to 113 for eight off their allotted 20 overs and West Indies ‘A’ replied with 114 for five with two deliveries remaining.
Travis Dowlin top scored for West Indies ‘A’ with an unbeaten 49 off 47 balls and opener Devon Smith scored 31 off 27 deliveries.
Earlier, Shane Shillingford took three for 15 off four overs to put Zimbabwe under early pressure. Jason Holder supported with two for 24 off four overs, while Imran Khan, Shannon Gabriel and Nelon Pascal picked up a wicket apiece.
The victory represents West Indies ‘A’ second over the touring Zimbabwe team. The Caribbean side secured a six-wicket victory in a four-day, first class match, which ended on Monday.
The teams will meet again on Saturday in the final 20/20 encounter, also at the Queen’s Park Stadium.
