Labour unions in the US Virgin Islands are to hold talks today following the announcement by the territory\'s cash strapped Government that it will be implementing cost cutting measures.
The measures are aimed at staving off a financial crisis.
Earlier this week, the country’s Governor, John de Jongh, told his Cabinet and union leaders there would be a freeze on hiring and on the salaries of all executive branch personnel.
However, the territory\'s main trade union, which represents public sector workers, has accused the government of waste and targeting its members.
