Al Fouzia for Oaks
Thirteen native bred three-year-old fillies have been declared for the 71st running of the Bigga Jamaica Oaks over two thousand metres, feature event on tomorrow’s race card at Caymanas Park.
Offering a purse of $3.3 million, the Wisynco-sponsored event for the Hilma Veira Trophy has attracted the first five that past the post in the April 5 One Thousand Guineas, including the winner AL FOUZIA and runner-up GABIWITZO.
It will mark the third meeting between the two fillies this season, both holding a victory over each other in recent months.
AL FOUZIA turned the tables on GABIWITZO in the One Thousand Guineas on Easter Monday, staving off her fast finishing opponent by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
Based on exercise reports they should fight out the finish again and AL FOUZIA, with title chasing jockey Dane Nelson up, is tipped to continue winning ways.
US-based Jamaican jockey Andrew Ramgeet will ride GABIWITZO.
The 11-race programme will also feature the Lady Geeta Trophy and the Sam Mahfood Trophy.
Post time is 12:15.
