Brazil, CARICOM sign agreements
Brazil and CARICOM have signed some 60 agreements in the areas of trade, agriculture, science and technology.
The historic signing took place at the first Brazil-CARICOM Summit yesterday in the capital, Brazilia.
Ambassador Albert Ramdin, the assistant secretary general of the Organisation of American States (OAS) has expressed satisfaction with what he says is the open and frank debate on issues of significance to the hemisphere, in particular, the small economies of the Caribbean Community.
Ambassador Ramdin says the high-level consultation and the technical cooperation agreements will inevitably contribute to stronger relations between Brazil and its Caribbean neighbours, and enhance multilateralism throughout the Americas.
Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, is among 10 CARICOM Heads of Government who attended the Summit.
