Alpha shock defending champions St Andrew

Alpha Academy scored a 2-1 victory over defending champions St Andrew High in their top-of-the-table Zone ‘A’ girls’ match in the ISSA/Jamaica Hockey Federation Under-16 school competition yesterday.



The game was played at the Mona Hockey turf.



Shanar White scored both goals for Alpha, who now surged top of the table with 12 points, three ahead of St Andrew High.



In the other Zone ‘A’ game, St Hugh’s and Mona High battled to a goalless draw in their bottom-of-the-table clash.



In the boys’ competition, Papine High blanked Campion College 3-0 to hold on to Zone ‘B’ lead. They are now on 10 points, three clear of second place Mona High on seven. Campion remain at the bottom of the table with a point.



The competition continues this afternoon with one game at Munro College and two at Mona Hockey Field.



Over at Munro College, reigning boys’ champions Munro College will host Tivoli Gardens in a 1 p.m. Zone ‘A’ match.



Also in Zone ‘A’, Wolmer’s Boys and St Andrew Technical High School will clash in a bottom-of-the-table match at 3 p.m., while at 4 p.m. Wolmer’s Girls and Excelsior will face off in a Zone ‘B’ girls’ game.
