West Indies women beat Pakistan by four wickets

West Indies women continued their winning trend ahead of next week’s start of their World 20/20 Championship campaign, when they beat Pakistan by four wickets in the opening 20/20 International of their three-match series yesterday.
Chasing a paltry 84 made by Pakistan after they won the toss and chose to bat at the Edgar Gilbert Sports Complex, West Indies stumbled before reaching 88 for six with two balls to spare.
They were led by teenaged middle-order batsman Deandra Dottin who top scored with 28 while left-hander Shanel Daley stroked a robust, unbeaten 25, to guide the team to their fourth straight 20/20 win following their clean sweep of the three-match series against Sri Lanka.
Off-spinner Sadia Yousaf, who snatched the first three wickets to send West Indies tumbling to 35 for three in the 13th over, finished with three for 10 while fast bowler Qanita Jalil claimed two for 12.
Earlier, left-arm slow bowler Shanel Daley captured three for six while Cordel Jack 2 for 10 and Tremayne Smartt Smart 2 for 17 finished with two wickets apiece to wreck Pakistan’s innings.
The visitors never recovered after they lost Sajida Shah run out in the day’s second over for four with the score on 13 and only captain Sana Mir and Nain Abidi, both with 18, showed any resistance afterward.
