Bahamas to host conference examining treaty law and practices in the Caribbean
A four day conference examining various treaties involving the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries is to be held in the Bahamas in July.
In a statement, the Guyana-based CARICOM Secretariat said the July 19-22 event forms part of the annual “Treaty Law and Practice” seminar being organised by the Secretariat and the European Union.
The Secretariat said the seminar is intended to heighten understanding, appreciation and knowledge of selected aspects of treaty law and practice.
It also said that the seminar will serve as a forum for encouraging wider participation in CARICOM treaties and international processes.
Presentations will cover key areas including an overview of international law, the CARICOM Treaty Process as well as the treaty processes relating to the Organisation of American States (OAS) and the Economic Community of West African States.
