Union gives ultimatum

Dominica’s Public Service Union (PSU) has issued an ultimatum to the government for it to continue negotiations on a new collective agreement for public workers.

The union’s general secretary Thomas Letang says it has been more than a month since the negotiations were stopped and the union is yet to receive any word from the Roosevelt Skerrit government on when the talks will resume.

Mr Letang says if the union does not hear from the government by next week, it will review its position on agreements reached so far.

He says most of the non-salary issues have already been resolved during the negotiations.

The public servants are seeking a 19 per cent salary increase over a three-year period and have already rejected a government offer of two per cent.
