Munro, Tivoli face off
Reigning boys’ champions Munro College blanked Tivoli Gardens 2-0 yesterday in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association/Jamaica Hockey Federation Under-16 school competition.
The Zone ‘A’ game was played at Munro College in St Elizabeth.
Following the victory, Munro College have surged top of the table with 10 points, three ahead of Excelsior and Tivoli Gardens on seven points each.
In the other Zone ‘A’ game, fourth place Wolmer’s Boys were awarded a 3-0 walkover victory over last place St Andrew Technical High School at the Mona Hockey turf.
In the girls’ competition, Excelsior hammered Wolmer’s 5-0 at Mona Hockey turf to move top of Zone ‘B’ on goal difference and qualified for the semi-final.
They are locked on seven points with Papine, who secured the other semi-final spot from the group.
The competition continues this afternoon at Mona Hockey turf with the last set of preliminary round games.
In the girls’ competition, third place Immaculate and fourth place St Hugh will face off in a 1 o’clock Zone ‘A’ game. Alpha Academy and defending champions St Andrew High have already picked up the semi-final spots from the group.
In Zone ‘B’ of the boys’ competition, third place Kingston College and fourth place Jamaica College will face off at 3 o’clock; while second place Mona High will tackle last place Campion College at 4 o’clock.
Papine and Mona have already secured the semi-final spots from the group. Munro and Excelsior are the qualifiers from Zone ‘A’.
