Charges have been dropped against the US missionary who attempted to take several children out of Haiti to the Dominican Republic, following the January 12 earthquake.
Judge Bernard Saint-Vil says he dropped the charges because the children the 10 missionaries were trying to take out of Haiti were all given over freely by their parents.
Group leader Laura Silsby is to be tried on a lesser charge of arranging illegal travel.
The judge says that\'s because she knew that she had no right to take the 33 children out of earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
He says she also deceived the other Baptist missionaries by telling them she had the proper documents to take the children to the neighbouring Dominican Republic.
