No room for Sherome Simpson at meet

The request by Jamaica’s Olympic 100-metre silver medallist Sherone Simpson for a lane in the women’s 100 metres at the Jamaica International Invitational meet was denied yesterday by organisers.
An invitation was originally extended earlier this month to Simpson and her other MVP track teammates including Asafa Powell, Melaine Walker and Shelly-Ann Frazer but the athletes’ camp did not accept.
However, after the MVP track club turned down the invitation, Simpson publicly stated her desire to participate.
Simpson’s agent Paul Doyle had made contact with the meet organisers requesting a lane draw.
