New referendum coming

The US House of Representatives has approved a measure allowing Puerto Rico to set a new referendum on statehood or possible independence.



Puerto Rico would have the option to change its status if the referendum is carried out.



The island has been a US territory for 112 years.



Puerto Ricans have repeatedly rejected changes.



However, some political groups continue to advocate statehood or full independence.
