South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has named a 29-man preliminary squad for the World Cup, which they host in June.
Included on the list are West Ham striker Benni McCarthy and Portsmouth midfielder Aaron Mokoena.
However, Nasief Morris who plays for Real Santander in Spain\'s La Liga is omitted from the squad.
South Africa kick off the tournament on June 11 against Mexico, at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
There are 19 home-based players in all on the list with the remaining ten playing in various leagues across Europe.
Other notable inclusions in the team are Steven Pienaar of Everton and Siphiwe Tshabalala who plays for Kaizer Chiefs in the South African league.
Coach Parreira will announce his final final 23-man squad for the tournament on 1 June, 10 days before the tournament begins.
South Africa have just ended a three-week training camp in Germany. They ended the camp on a high by defeating Jamaica’s Reggae Boys 2-0 in an international friendly.
