New Zealand defeat Zimbabwe
New Zealand defeated Zimbabwe by seven runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method a short while ago to advance to the Super Eights round of the World 20/20 Championship.
The match was played at the Guyana National Stadium.
The Black Caps were chasing 85 for victory but rain intervened forcing match officials to use the Duckworth-Lewis method.
When the rains came, New Zealand were 36 for one after 8.1 overs.
Earlier, Nathan McCullum and Scott Styris grabbed three wickets each to spark Zimbabwe\'s dramatic collapse for 84.
Zimbabwe must win to have any chance of advancing. New Zealand can progress with a narrow loss after having already beaten Sri Lanka by two wickets off the penultimate ball last Friday.
Meanwhile, England need a victory against Ireland in the second match at the venue to join West Indies in the Super Eights.
The match is scheduled to start at 12.30 p.m.
England lost to West Indies by the Duckworth-Lewis Method in their opening match yesterday.
England, sent in to bat, posted an impressive 195 for five, but West Indies successfully chased a revised target of 60 in six overs between the rain breaks at the Guyana National Stadium to win by eight wickets.
