Four-day Primary Champs begins today
The four-day INSPORTS/Swizzzle Primary Schools Athletics Championship starts this morning at 10 a.m. at the National Stadium with a record of 69 schools down to take part.
The championship was originally slated to start yesterday, but was pushed back due to the island wide strike action by teachers.
Athletes will compete in four classes, Under eight, Under-10, Under-11 and Under-12.
The boys’ long jump open will be the first event.
The first day will also feature the 4 x 100-metre relays for boys and girls in all classes, girls’ 800-metre sprint medley Open, boys’ 800-metre sprint medley Open and the 800-metre open for girls and boys.
Naggo’s Head Primary from Portmore, St Catherine are the defending champions.
Naggo’s Head won last year with a combined score of 208.50 points to dethrone St. Benedict’s with 202 points.
