The International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World 20/20 Championship bowls off this morning at Warner Park in St Kitts with hosts West Indies playing South Africa in the opening game at 10 a.m.

West Indies will contest a tough Group A that also comprises 50-overs and 20/20 World Champions England and Australia who face off in the second game at 2 p.m.

Group B includes Sri Lanka New Zealand, India and Pakistan.

West Indies will enter their opening match on a high following a three-wicket victory over New Zealand in their final warm-up game on Monday.

On that day, South Africa lost by 23 runs to India.

West Indies women’s coach Sherwin Campbell says his team will be a force to reckon with based on results over the last two weeks.

All the first round matches will be played at Warner Park.

The semis will be played at Beausejour in St Lucia and the final at Kensington Oval in Barbados on May 16.
