The Cuban authorities have announced plans to allow foreign investors to develop golf courses, marinas and related land development projects to boost the country\'s tourist industry.
The tourism minister, Manuel Morrero, says the communist government is in advanced negotiations with several potential foreign partners.
Under the arrangements, the Cuban authorities are considering granting foreigners medium to long-term leases of real estate if linked to golf course projects.
Correspondents say Cuba expects to receive a record number of foreign visitors this year, but wants to attract a more affluent, higher-spending class of tourist.
