The United States and Trinidad and Tobago have concluded a new air services agreement.

The deal comes less than a week after the Caribbean Airlines takeover of Air Jamaica\'s North American routes.

A release from the US State Department says Washington and Port of Spain had reached a comprehensive Open Skies agreement to expand and liberalise their bilateral civil aviation ties.

State Department official John Byerly says the deal between Caribbean Airlines and Air Jamaica triggered the new talks with Trinidad and Tobago since it had no open skies agreement with the US.

The accord, reached on May 1, gives airlines of the two countries the freedom to decide which cities to serve, the frequency of flights, and the prices charged.
