West Indies Women win again
West Indies Women beat titleholders England Women by two runs in their second Group ‘A’ match of the Women’s World 20/Twenty Championship at Warner Park in St Kitts today.
West Indies, sent in to bat by England, scored 122 for eight off their allotted 20 overs with Juliana Nero getting 32 from 36 balls, Britney Cooper 20 from 14, Stafanie Taylor 18 from 22, Stacy-Ann King 17 from 11 and Shanel Daley 14 from nine.
Laura Marsh took most wickets for England with three for 17, while Jenny Gunn and Anya Shrubsole supported with two wickets apiece.
England, needing 123 for victory, were restricted to 120 for nine off their allotted 20 overs against the bowling of Anisa Mohammed two for nine, Shermaine Campbell two for 15, Deandra Dottin two for 31 and Stafanie Taylor two for 37.
Sarah Taylor 33 and Charlotte Edwards 31 got most runs for England.
In the opening Group ‘A’ match, Australia Women beat South Africa Women by 24 runs.
