August Town out of next season’s Premiership

August Town Football Club became the first casualty of the Digicel National Premier League after receiving a 3-0 whipping from Sporting Central Academy at Brancourt in Clarendon yesterday.



August Town, who will be relegated to the Super League, will end the season at the bottom of the 12-team table, despite one round to go.



The club is on 36 points, four points behind second-from-the-bottom Sporting Central Academy.



Arnett Gardens beat Humble Lions 1-0 at Anthony Spaulding Complex to stay above the drop zone.



As a result of the victory, Arnett Gardens have joined Humble Lions and Rivoli United on 42 points.



Over at Ferdie Neita Park, hosts Portmore United recorded a 1-0 victory over Rivoli United to cement their place in the Premiership for next season.



Waterhouse confirmed their third place after battling to a goalless draw against already crowned champions Harbour View at the Harbour View Stadium.



In other games yesterday, sixth place Village United blanked fourth place St George’s 3-0 at Elliston Wakeland Centre in Trelawny, while fifth place Boys’ Town beat second place and outgoing champion Tivoli Gardens 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller at Collie Smith Drive.
