Pakistan beat South Africa
Reigning champions Pakistan defeated South Africa by 11 runs in their final Super Eight match today at the Beausejour Stadium in St Lucia to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the World 20/20 semifinals.
The result eliminated South Africa from the tournament and sent England through to the semi-finals.
South Africa, set a victory target of 149, were restricted to 137 for seven against the bowling of Saeed Ajmal four for 26 and Abdur Rehman two for 35.
AB de Villiers top scored for South Africa with 53 from 41 balls.
Earlier, Pakistan batting after winning the toss scored 148 for seven off their allotted 20 overs with Umar Akmal getting 51 from 33 balls, Kamran Akmal scoring 37 from 33 and Shahid Afridi 30 from 18.
Charl Langeveldt was the most successful bowler for South Africa with four for 19.
The final preliminary match in the group is scheduled to start at 1.30 p.m. with England facing New Zealand.
