CTO raises concern over pending BA strike

The Barbados-based Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) is concerned that the impending strike by British Airways cabin crew could affect regional tourism.

The union representing the BA cabin crew has announced plans for another round of strikes from May 18 to June 2.

The action coincides with the South Africa cricket tour of the West Indies and the start of the FIFA World Cup.

Hugh Riley, the Secretary General of the CTO says a number of member countries are dependent on the European market and could be affected by any reduction in travel.

However, he says his organisation is working closely with British Airways executives to ensure that there is little or no disruption to Caribbean tourism.
