William Perkins has been named in a 17-member West Indies training squad to prepare for the Australia tour of the Caribbean, starting later this month.

The Trinidadian opening batsman had a modest Carib Beer Series in which he scored 234 runs at an average of 29.25.

Also named in the training squad is uncapped fast bowler Kemar Roach of Barbados.

Uncapped Trinidadian off-spin bowler Amit Jaggernauth and his compatriot Kieron Pollard have been included.

The training squad does not include the four senior players, Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

Gayle is injured, while Sarwan, Chanderpaul and Bravo are taking part in the Indian Cricket League.

Four Jamaicans have been included in the squad. They are Brenton Parchment, Darren Powell, Jerome Taylor and Marlon Samuels.

The series will have three Test matches with the first slated for Sabina Park from May 22 to 26.

There will be five One Day Internationals and a 20/20 international at Kensington oval in Barbados on June 20.

The camp will run from May 12 to 17 in Antigua.
