Haitian prosecutors have asked for a six-month prison term for US missionary Laura Silsby, who was arrested for trying to leave Haiti with 33 children following the devastating January 12 earthquake.

Ms. Silsby is said to be the leader of a group of 10 US Baptists which was stopped at the border with the Dominican Republic with the children.

She was initially accused of child abduction, but the charges were later revised to irregular travel.
