St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister, Dr Denzil Douglas, says his party will not be contesting another general election in the twin island federation under the existing electoral boundaries.

Douglas, who led the ruling St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party to a convincing victory in the January 25 general election, says his administration will start the boundary reform process very early in this term of office.

The electoral boundaries had been a major contention ahead of the election, with the main opposition People’s Action Movement going to the courts to prevent the government from acting on the report of the Constituency Boundaries Commission.

In an address to the labour party convention on Sunday, Dr Douglas told supporters that his party will not be going into another general election based on those old boundaries.

Prime Minister Douglas says the ruling party must also execute programmes, projects and activities that are consistent with the mandate and the philosophy of the Labour Party.
