New flight safety rules in Britain

The Civil Aviation Authority in Britain has introduced new flight safety rules designed to reduce the disruption to air travel caused by volcanic ash.

The revised regulations permit aircraft to fly for a limited time through higher ash densities than currently allowed.

However, that would be based on whether the airline is able to provide a guarantee from the manufacturer of its engines, that they’re built to do so.

Volcanic ash which forced the closure of European airspace in April affected thousands of flights including some to and from the Caribbean.
