Stadium in Mobay to be opened June 5
The $1.4 billion Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay, Jamaica is slated to be officially open on Saturday, June 5 and will stage the second Western Primary Invitational Track Meeting on the day.
Speaking at yesterday’s launch of the primary school meet, guest speaker Lenworth Tracey, deputy general manager of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) said the meet would be an integral part of the opening ceremony.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding and the ambassador for Venezuela Noel Martinez-Ochoa are expected to be in attendance.
Golding is expected to declare the eight thousand-seat stadium open.
Meet director Albert Ferguson says the official opening of the stadium will take place at 11 a.m. The track meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. with 20 schools from western Jamaica confirmed to participate.
