Maximum field declares for Lotto Classic

A maximum field of 16 was declared at the overnight stage yesterday for Monday’s 70th running of the Lotto Classic for the Governor’s Cup over 2,000 metres.
The race is confined to native bred three-year-olds.
Notable absentees are the 2,000 winner Mark My Work and 1,000 Guineas winner Al Fuze, both of whom are down to run in an 1820-metre open allowance race tomorrow.
Oaks winner Gabiwitzo is also absent.
Ante-post favourite for the race is Life is Jus for Living from the high-powered camp of champion trainer Wayne DaCosta.
DaCosta also has two other entries in the Oaks second place finisher Excellence and Trial Lawyer.
The field also includes Colonel Wales and Heart of a Champion.
