A Florida college student has pleaded guilty in the Bahamas to assaulting and threatening several police personnel after a brawl there.

Nineteen-year-old Jordan Proffitt told a judge that he did not realise he was fighting police personnel, because he did not recognise their uniforms.

Bahamian police say Proffitt, his brother and their father fought with police after the teenager was thrown out of Senor Frogs for disorderly conduct.

Proffitt has pleaded guilty to all 11 charges.
