The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt and his Jamaican teammate Asafa Powell, the former 100-metre world record holder, are now in the Czech Republic to compete at the 49th Ostrava Golden Spike Meeting on Thursday.
Bolt will run in the rarely contested 300 metres in hopes of setting the world record in the distance now held by American Michael Johnson in 30.85 seconds.
Bolt is set to earn $300,000 for his appearance, plus an additional $30,000 for a record.
Bolt currently holds the records in the 100 metres of 9.58, the 200 metres in 19.19 and the 4 x 100-metre relay of 37.10 with his Jamaican team.
Powell is down to contest the men’s 100-metres.
