Insurance company refuses Stanford bills

The insurance company paying the bills of jailed Texan financier, Allen Stanford, says it’s tired of supporting his ever-changing list of attorneys.

Attorneys for insurers Lloyds of London told a US District Judge that the company is refusing to pay for Mr Stanford\'s newest criminal defense team, his fourth since being indicted nearly a year ago on fraud charges.

Lloyd\'s says it has already spent more than $6 million on lawyers from 10 firms to defend Mr. Stanford.

The Texan is accused of defrauding investors in a US$7 billion Ponzi scheme.

Attorney Barry Chasnoff says Lloyd\'s is concerned that one of Mr Stanford\'s new attorneys appointed last month, had already asked to be released because of differences with his client.

Mr. Stanford had significant investments in Antigua.
