Warner unsure about cabinet post

Jack Warner says he faces a difficult decision about his future, following re-election to the Trinidad & Tobago Parliament as part of the United National Congress coalition that also elected the country’s first female Prime Minister on Monday.

Warner is one of the most powerful men in the sport of football.

He is special advisor to the T&T Football Federation, president of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), president of the Confederation of North, Central, and Caribbean Area Football, and a vice president of the sport’s World governing body, FIFA.

Warner defeated Ronald Heera of the People’s National Movement for the Chaguanas West seat in the T&T Red House, and as chairman of the United National Congress is expected to claim a cabinet post in the administration of Kamla Persad-Bissessar, which has left him unusually undecided.

Warner says if he agrees to be in the Cabinet, it means that his entire football would come to an end.

Warner says after over 20 consecutive years of involvement in football he is a little indecisive about if he should give it up now, or not.

He noted that Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar has discussed privately with him that she would like him to play a major role in the new Government of T&T.
