Women’s group criticize Cuban government
Cuban dissident group, Ladies in White, says the government in Havana has not yet released any political prisoners or improved jail conditions, as had been hoped following recent talks with church leaders.
Earlier this month, Catholic church officials had said that the Raul Castro government promised to move prisoners to jails closer to home, or if they were sick, into hospitals.
Some reports also say Mr Castro has signaled the possible release of an unknown number of prisoners.
However, the group's leader, Laura Pollan, says they are yet to hear from the government about its plans.
The Ladies in White have staged weekly protest marches since the arrest of 75 dissidents in March 2003.
Many of those detained are said to be their sons and husbands.
