Reno hold on to lead in playoffs
Reno of Westmoreland were held to a 2-2 draw by Spanish Town-based Meadows at Frome Sports Complex in Westmoreland, as the battle for two berths in next season’s Digicel Premier League continued today.
The result means that the perfect win record of Reno has now ended.
However, Reno still lead the four-team standings.
They have climbed to seven points, three ahead of Meadows and Cavalier going into the return matches.
Sheldon Bryan, 27th minute and Omar Dallas, 37th minute, scored for Reno, while Jason Russell booted in both goals for Meadows. He handed his team the lead in the 23rd minute and scored in the 79th minute to give Meadows a share of the points.
In the day’s other playoff game, bottom place Benfica, the Eastern Confederation Super League champions, came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Cavalier of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association.
The game was played at the University of West Indies Bowl.
