The race for the two spots in next season’s Digicel Premier League is still wide open following yesterday’s penultimate round of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Confederation playoffs.

Reno, the Western Confederation champions, and Kingston and St Andrew Football Association winner Cavalier would advance yesterday following victories.

However, Reno lost 1-0 to Benfica, while Cavalier were held to a 1-1 draw by Meadows.

The results mean that Cavalier will enter the last round of the four-team playoffs on Sunday with a one-point lead.

Cavalier are on eight points, followed by Reno and Benfica of St Ann on seven each, while St Catherine-based Meadows are at the bottom with five points and still in the race.

Damion James scored the all-important goal for Benfica in the 58th minute to give his team an away victory over Reno at Frome Sports Complex.

Over at Ferdie Neita Park, Loxley Thompson scored in the 49th minute to put Cavalier ahead, but Sivaun Scott cancelled the lead in the 65th minute.
