West Indies ‘A’ suffer defeat

West Indies ‘A’ suffered defeat yesterday, they lost by six-wickets to India ‘A’ in the first four-day ‘Test’ at Grace Road in Leicester, England.



Resuming yesterday’s final day on 125 for five, still requiring another 22 runs to avoid an innings defeat, West Indies ‘A’ were bowled out for 257 in their second innings.



Imran Khan struck seven fours in the top score of 62 from 95 balls and Gavin Tonge hit six fours and one six in 46 from 57 balls.



Windies-A were again undermined by left-arm fast bowler Jaidev Unadkat. He took six wickets for 62 runs from 27.5 overs to end with match figures of 13 for 103.



Needing just 110 runs for victory, India ‘A’ reached 114 for four with Lionel Baker taking two wickets for 31.



Final scores in that match are West Indies ‘A’ 144 and 257; India ‘A’ 291 and 114 for four.



The second and final four-day ‘Test’ between the two sides starts on Thursday at the Whitgift School in Croydon, England.
