Romelda Aiken wins with Firebirds

The Queensland Firebirds, with Jamaican goal shooter Romelda Aiken, enhanced their chances of reaching the Finals of the ANZ Championship with victory over Canterbury Tactix in Brisbane, Australia yesterday.



Aikens scored 47 goals from 62 attempts to lead the Queensland Firebird to a 75-32 victory.



The Firebirds are now fifth in the Championship on 14 points and are trying to secure a top-four spot for the first time in the competition’s history.



Meanwhile, Jamaican goalkeeper Althea Byfield had one rebound and seven deflections, but the Northern Mystics suffered a 50-43 loss to the Southern Steel in Auckland, New Zealand.
