Tylenol recall in the region

Published:Thursday | June 17, 2010 | 9:08 AM

Tylenol tablets being sold in Tobago, Puerto Rico and Bermuda have been pulled from the shelves.

The manufacturers, Johnson and Johnson of the United States, says it has been receiving complaints about an obnoxious smell that can cause nausea and sickness.

Officials say the odour comes from a chemical used to treat wooden pallets that transport and store medication packaging materials.

In January the company put out an initial recall on two of its products, Benadryl Allergy Ultra-tablets and Extra Strength Tylenol.

It is the third recall in eight months by the company and this has led to congressional investigations and citations by the US Food and Drug Administration.
