The island’s top native-bred three-year-olds will take the spotlight at Caymanas Park tomorrow when they contest the 90th staging of the Jamaica Derby, now sponsor by LIME for the first time.

The maximum field of 16 will go for glory over 2400 metres.

The race has attracted the 2,000 Guineas winner, Mark My Word, again be ridden by Panamanian jockey Dick Cardenas, and the 1,000 Guineas heroine, Al Fouzia, with top-line jockey Dane Nelson back in the saddle.

In addition to Mark My Word, who is the one to beat, and Al Fouzia the field also includes the Oaks winner Gabiwitzo, to be ridden by last year’s Derby-winning jockey, Paul ‘Country’ Francis, the Lotto Classic hero and Life is Jus for Living, under champion jockey Omar Walker.

The well-supported 12-race card also features The LIME Sprint over 1300 metres. Ante-post favourite is Cassanova Boy.

Post Time on the card is 11.40 a.m.
