The Dominican judge hearing the election petition case brought by the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) has reserved judgement is the matter is to go to trial.

The UWP had filed five petitions challenging the outcome of general election held in December last year.

After two days of preliminary hearings, Justice Errol Thomas has set no definitive date for a ruling.

The Opposition is claiming that the poll was flawed due to alleged instances of bribery and corruption.

Justice Thomas will decide whether the matter will be struck out or taken to trial.
