Gayle happy for draw

West Indies skipper Chris Gayle says he was very happy with the result of yesterday’s second Test against South Africa at Warner Park in St Kitts.



Gayle says he was very pleased with the batsmen especially Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Brendan Nash who got hundreds in the team’s first innings total of 546.



During yesterday’s fifth and final day offspinner Shane Shillingford grabbed two for 80 as South Africa, trailing by three runs from the first innings, batted the entire day before declaring on 235 for 3. The South Africans had resumed on 23 without loss.



Seamer Dwayne Bravo was the other wicket taker for West Indies with one for 37.



The result means South Africa retained the Vivian Richards Trophy, having taken an unassailable 1-0 lead into the third and final Test match in Barbados starting on Saturday.



Jacques Kallis top scored for South Africa in the second innings with an undefeated 62, while captain Graeme Smith scored 46 and Hashim Amla got 41.



Final scores in the game South Africa 543 for six declared and 235 for three declared,West Indies 546.
