Building code talks in Grenada

There are calls this morning for the enforcement of the island's building code, following the weekend fire, which damaged three Government buildings and several booths in a shopping mall.

The finance minister, Nazim Burke, wants the laws enforced to ensure that new constructions comply with the existing building codes.

According to Mr Burke, it is time to deal with the problem of sub-standard buildings.

The mall, which is used by small business entrepreneurs, was made primarily with plywood and zinc roofing.
