The St. Lucia government has been plunged into a new crisis with two ruling party members of parliament withdrawing their support for Prime Minister Stephenson King.
Former Foreign Minister Rufus Bousquet and MP Marcus Nicholas have reportedly presented letters to the country\'s Governor General, indicating that they no longer support Mr. King.
Mr. Nicholas has also resigned as deputy speaker of the House of Assembly.
Both men had publicly demanded that Prime Minister King get rid of Economic Planning Minister Ausbert D\'Auvergne.
They claimed Mr. D\'Auvergne, an unelected member, wielded too much power in the Cabinet.
The two men have resigned. They said they would continue to be members of the party.
